Family-owned. Nationally trusted

Family-owned since 1992. Built from one trade into a national contractor trusted by America's biggest retail brands.

From one trade to one accountable partner

Ron Bacskai founded RJB in 1992 outside Philadelphia as a commercial coatings contractor. The work was simple: show up, do it right, stand behind it. That standard hasn't changed.

As national brands trusted RJB with more of their facilities, the scope grew. Clients wanted one accountable partner, not multiple contractors. RJB added drywall, carpentry, and fixturing until it became the full-service general contractor it is today, now operating across 48 states.

What hasn't changed is who owns it. Ron started RJB thinking about the next job, not an exit strategy. That mindset carries through every decision. Today the second generation of the Bacskai family is part of the business. Family ownership means we answer to our clients and our team, not to a corporate mandate. That freedom lets us do the right thing, every time.

RJB [Ability]

Three decades of commercial construction have taught us what separates contractors who show up from contractors who deliver. It comes down to four things we refuse to compromise on.

01
Accountability
One point of contact. One team on-site. If something isn't right, we own it. No finger-pointing, no passing the buck to a subcontractor.
02
Planning
Open-store retail construction doesn't leave room for surprises. Every project is planned before a single tool touches the site.
03
Communication
Our clients never have to chase an update. We communicate proactively, from kickoff through punch list, so there are no surprises.
04
Safety
Working in live retail and industrial environments demands a culture of safety. Every team member is trained, accountable, and empowered to stop work if something isn't right.

RJB safety on the job site

Safety isn't a program. It's how we work.

RJB operates in live retail stores, active warehouses, and occupied facilities every day. That environment demands more than a safety checklist — it demands a culture where every person on the team is trained, accountable, and empowered to stop work the moment something isn't right.

We hold ourselves and our subcontractor network to the same standard. Pre-task planning, site-specific safety plans, and ongoing training are built into every project, not bolted on after the fact. Our clients' employees and customers are often steps away from our crews. That proximity is something we take seriously.

RJB has a dedicated, in-house Safety Manager — Jennifer Schroeder — who oversees safety compliance, training, and protocols across all active projects. From day one of a project to the final punch walk, safety is a line item that never gets cut.
